Come one, come all to a night you will never forget! Starmaker Machine has joined forces with three stellar bands to bring you a night of three suits at the Magic Stick in Detroit, Michigan on Saturday, June 2nd. Within the three-band mix are two bands native to Detroit, Lyons Lane and Drey Skonie and the Klouds. To round out the night, we also have Ace Monroe joining us all the way from Nashville. To learn more about the groups, look no further. You won’t want to miss this!

Lyons Lane is no stranger to Starmaker Machine, previously being featured on the page in September of last year. With a recent name and band change, they are ready to take on the rock city like never before. Starting out in 2019, their recent rebrand serves as a marker of a new era for the band. Every time I have seen the band their lineup has been different, save for the highly expressive frontman Mark Leo and bassist, Thoman “Tomcat” Thompson. The pair, along with the ever-changing band, serve up a cool 50s/early 60s rockabilly sound with a modern twist as I have never seen before. With new music seemingly on the horizon, Lyons Lane is an act to keep an eye on.

Another Detroit act on the lineup is Drey Skonie and the Klouds. Recently crowned Amplify’s The Sound of Detroit’s Artist of the Year 2023, front man Drey Skonie is a force to be reckoned with. Their sound is a perfect mix of Detroit’s soul and funk roots with a modern R&B spin. From Skonie’s onstage swagger to the fun sax improvisation, there is a clear tightness within the band that makes seeing them live such a great experience. I’ve always been interested in seeing them more as they’ve performed their way through the Detroit area, so working alongside them for a night of three suits has been a very exciting process.

Lastly, all the way from Nashville, Tennessee, we have Ace Monroe. Unlike the other two bands, I’ve never had the pleasure of seeing them live for myself— though I have been able to stream their music. The group seems to have a plethora of influences ranging from Aerosmith to Led Zeppelin as heard through their driving, gritty guitar sound, and powerhouse vocals. I’m looking forward to being able to experience them for their first-ever show here in Detroit!
